It’s truly a privilege to serve as the Dean and Associate Professor at the Barnett College of Ministry and Theology at Southeastern University, where I’ve had the honor of being part of the SEU family since the summer of 2024. Before joining SEU, I spent almost 20 years in full-time ministry as a lead pastor and missionary, with the incredible opportunity to serve more than 40 countries. Along the way, I also had the privilege of teaching at institutions like Moody Theological Seminary, Austin Christian University, and Theos Seminary, where I witnessed the profound impact education centered on faith can have on both individuals and communities.
I am focused on helping students and leaders engage with their faith in ways that are both intellectually stimulating and spiritually transformative. Faith is not just a set of beliefs but a way of life that shapes everything we do. That’s why I focus on areas like New Testament Greek, the Apocalypse of St. John, Pentecostal theology, philosophy, and the profound questions surrounding suffering and theodicy. I’ve written ten books, including my most recent one, A World Without God: The Search for Meaning In a Society Overwhelmed by Despair (Zondervan Reflective), where I delve into the existential struggles our society faces today.
In addition to teaching and writing, I’m privileged to speak at conferences, lead workshops, and preach in churches, always striving to encourage others to think deeply about their faith.
And as someone who grew up in Southeast Michigan, I can’t help but hold onto a bit of hope that one day I’ll see the Detroit Lions raise the Super Bowl trophy.
